Boil water advisory in effect for Newark, Del., surrounding towns, officials say
A boil water advisory has been put in place for Veolia customers in Newark, Del., as well as several surrounding towns on Saturday night due to a water main break in a large transmission, officials from the Delaware Municipal Water Division said. The other towns included in the boil water advisory are New Castle, Christiana and Bear, officials said. In total, around 50,000 customers are impacted, officials said. A full map of the impacted areas are below:Residents in the affected area are urged to bring water to a boil for one minute before using for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth and washing dishes, officials said. The advisory is in effect until further notice, officials said. According to officials, the advisory has been put out in abundance of caution and tests of water samples confirm it is safe to drink.
